I've been playing LoL for a little over a year now (as BrackenThrorn) and one of the most intriguing aspects of Riot's take on gaming is their concern with player interaction and community. The Tribunal system allows players to not only see the toxic behavior of their peers, but also to decide if they should or should not be punished for their behavior (Riot decides the sentence). On top of this innovative method of educated their players while punishing those that contribute to a negative atmosphere, Riot also makes certain it informs the community of how being a good teammate will help them. Essentially, the gamification of being a good person while gaming. For instance, "Teamwork OP:"
Obviously, the intention is that Riot hopes that players will be good players because they are being good people, but frames the material in a way any gamer can see an obvious gain from; by being a better teammate and a friendlier teammate, you can win more games.
When it comes down to it, I don't care why people choose to be nicer in LoL, as long as they stop being toxic. Anyone that's played LoL can tell you that Solo que can drive you nuts. You will lose games due to bad team comps or players refusing to adhere to a standard meta. But really, I can handle that as long as everyone is trying to have fun and be decent humans beings to each other.
